Professional Consultation and Training

Midwest Adoption Center [MAC] is an Illinois not-for-profit organization in existence since October 1992.  MAC’s goal was then, and continues to be, to meet emerging and previously unmet needs of the adoption community.  Areas of focus have included:

workshops and seminars for professionals as well as adoption triad members

therapy and consultations with individuals and families in the adoption circle

design and delivery of the Confidential Intermediary program throughout the state under contract with IDCFS, including training and procedure manual

design and delivery of program to provide information from closed IDCFS files

design and delivery of post-adoption and guardianship search and reunion service for clients of IDCFS under contract with the Department, including staff training and procedure manual

design and delivery of post-adoption search and reunion service for Illinois private agencies

development of written protocol for IDCFS regarding the provision of “non-identifying information”  to adoptive parents at the time of placement

MAC staff bring a broad history of adoption related experience and are uniquely qualified to assist Illinois professionals in continuing to deliver post-adoption service.  Since 1992, the Center has designed complex search programs including in-depth training curriculum and detailed service provision manuals for IDCFS as well as Illinois private agencies.
